About me

I live in the UK, about 20 miles from London, with my little companion Thomas, aged four.

I studied at Royal Holloway (University of London) where I did a degree in German and Music.  Languages and Linguistics was my focus however and I continued there with an MA in German and German Literature.  As anyone who has kids or has experienced a sudden change in their lifestyle will know, having Thomas changed my perspective on a lot of things, and made me reconsider the career I was following at the time.  This is where my journey into English Language Teaching (often shorted to ELT) began.

I enrolled on a next CELTA course (University of Cambridge ELT training) at International House London.  Dramatic as it sounds, my tutors, Nick Hamilton and Paul Martin, changed my life in four weeks!  It was intense, rewarding and a real eye-opener.  My only regret was that I hadn’t done it sooner.

So now, in the UK, I teach English to all kinds of people.  Business professionals who are learning English for work, teenagers from abroad who have relocated here with their parents, students who moved to the UK for a few months, fell in love, and now need the language to live here (not to mention argue with their new husband/wife). There are so many stories, no two students, or their English needs seem to be the same.  And that is why I love what I do.

Some other things you might care to know about me…

1. I drink far too much coffee for my own good and frequent coffee shops on a regular basis.

2.  I own five pairs of red shoes.  Love them.

3.  I knit and do crafty things at the end of the day (that is when I’m not teaching, Twittering or changing dirty toddler clothes).

4.  I am terrified of bugs of any kind – spiders, ants, worms, I squeal like a girl!

Ask me something about me and I will attempt to answer as honestly as I can – although I may live to regret this.
